Huawei's SmartAX EA5800 series includes products such as EA5800-X17/X15/X7/X2, providing users with ultra-broadband, green, and intelligent all-optical access networks.
The EA5800 is based on a distributed architecture, providing users with a unified platform for multiple services such as broadband, wireless, video, and surveillance. It offers GPON, XG(S)-PON, XGS-PON & GPON Combo, 50G-PON & XGS-GPON Combo, and 10GE/2.5GE/GE access, supporting 10GE, 25GE, 40GE, and 100GE uplinks. It supports various network deployment modes, including all-optical campus (FTTO), all-optical industrial network (FTTM), and all-optical home (FTTH/FTTR), enabling a single fiber optic network to cover all services, simplifying network architecture, and reducing OPEX. It supports large, medium, and small product specifications to meet the needs of different scenarios.
1. Distributed architecture
By distributing service processing from the main control board to each service board, the system's switching capacity and performance are improved, with a single slot throughput of up to 200 Gbit/s, ensuring smooth service operation.
2. High reliability
Dual-homing (Type B/Type C) enables off-site disaster recovery and backup protection, with redundant backup of dual main control boards and dual power supply boards, multiple uplink protections, and hot-swappable support for main control switching boards, service boards, power supplies, and fans, providing a safe and reliable operating environment.
3. Software upgrades continuously improve business operations.
In a distributed architecture, control and forwarding are separated, ensuring uninterrupted service during device upgrades, reducing user complaints, and allowing upgrades to be performed anytime during the day.
4. Ultra-wideband access
Supports 50G PON ultra-wideband access, providing 50G bandwidth to rooms, desktops, homes, and machines. It can meet the high bandwidth requirements of applications such as AI, AR/VR, and the Industrial Internet, and can provide high-bandwidth Wi-Fi 7 wireless coverage.

As a globally renowned ICT industry data analysis and consulting firm, GlobalData provides assessment reports on ICT industry market research and forecasts, product analysis, and more. In this report, GlobalData states that since 2019, the global deployment of 10G PON fiber optic access has continued to accelerate, with more and more users valuing the enhanced experience brought by gigabit access, including smooth ultra-high-definition video streaming and seamless multi-application concurrency. Huawei's SmartAX MA5800/EA5800 series products combine ultra-high throughput and user capacity, end-to-end slicing, and smooth evolution to next-generation PON technology, significantly improving the user network experience and bringing four major upgrades to operator and enterprise networks:
Bandwidth upgradeHuawei's SmartAX MA5800/EA5800, in addition to providing 100GE uplink for the main control and service boards, also supports tri-mode symmetrical 50G PON service boards. This not only provides sufficient uplink assurance for gigabit operations, but also provides the ability for sites to smoothly evolve to 10 gigabit, maximizing the reuse of investment.
Digital UpgradeThrough its unique optical iris technology, the ODN network is equipped with a recognizable "optical ID," enabling automatic restoration of the optical path topology. This not only ensures accurate restoration of asset management information but also provides fault detection and location capabilities, allowing for precise fault location to within 2 meters within an average of 15 minutes.
Business UpgradeBy leveraging big data and intelligent algorithms, it accurately identifies users with poor network performance and automatically analyzes and locates the root causes, enabling intelligent network perception. At the same time, it helps operators and enterprises develop precise fault location and resolution processes and precise marketing strategies for potential customers, enabling intelligent operation.
Green upgradeIt features a unique five-level dynamic energy-saving scheme that intelligently plans multiple energy-saving options at different stages. The system performance is automatically adjusted based on traffic to achieve optimal power consumption, while providing energy efficiency visibility on the network management side to help operators and enterprises achieve green operation.
Huawei's intelligent distributed OLT provides operators and enterprises with a solution for rapidly and efficiently deploying high-quality FTTP networks, driving the transformation of broadband services towards experience-driven operations. Looking to the future, Huawei will continue to deepen its technological innovation in the optical access field, working with global operators, industry customers, and upstream and downstream partners in the industry chain to jointly create ubiquitous optical connectivity and accelerate the construction of an intelligent world where everything is interconnected.
