Yang Xi, President of Huawei Enterprise Optical Domain

In his keynote speech titled "Embracing 'Three Advances and Three Retreats' for Win-Win Industry Intelligence," Yang Xi, President of Huawei's Enterprise Optical Domain, stated: "Based on F5G-A technology, the optical industry is accelerating the intelligent transformation of industries through the 'three advances and three retreats' of connectivity and sensing. In the intelligent connectivity segment, homes and enterprise parks are accelerating the 'fiber-to-the-home' transition. In power and transportation industry production networks, SDH (Digital Synchronous Hierarchy) is rapidly evolving towards fgOTN (Fine Grain Optical Transport Network), a process known as 'fiber-to-the-home' transition. For the intelligent sensing segment, in scenarios such as oil and gas pipeline inspection and perimeter intelligent protection, manual on-site operations will be replaced by intelligent remote operations, requiring fusion sensing technologies such as vision and fiber optic sensing, a process known as 'fiber-to-the-home' transition."

In his speech, Yang Xi shared the progress of the optical industry's "three advances and three retreats". Since Huawei released the industry's first all-optical campus solution, it has been commercially deployed in more than 10,000 campuses worldwide. POL (Passive Optical Local Area Network) has entered industry and group standards in many countries; fgOTN has been commercially deployed globally; optical sensing has been commercially deployed on a large scale in oil and gas, airports, railways and other fields, with more than 90 projects implemented globally.

Huawei has been deeply involved in the industry's "three advances and three retreats" needs, and based on F5G-A's innovative technologies in various scenarios, it has further launched four major solutions.

For ISPs (Internet Service Providers), Huawei offers a low-cost, rapid FTTH (Fiber to the Home) network deployment solution and a variety of FTTR (Fiber to the Room) products to help ISPs achieve rapid coverage, increased bandwidth, and improved user experience. For areas with insufficient fiber broadband coverage, Huawei's low-cost, rapid FTTH network deployment solution helps improve fiber network penetration. For areas with current 100Mbps broadband, upgrades to 10G PON and Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 optical terminals allow users to enjoy high-quality gigabit broadband. FTTR provides users with a high-quality ultra-gigabit experience.

For campus scenarios, the F5G All-Optical Campus 2.0 solution achieves four major upgrades in bandwidth, scenarios, operation, and planning. Campus network bandwidth has been upgraded from 10G to 50G, enabling 50G to classrooms and 10G to Wi-Fi, providing a more ultra-broadband, multi-network campus network experience. In terms of scenario upgrades, new optical terminals meeting the M45 installation standard in Europe and the Middle East have been launched, enabling fiber-to-the-bedside connections without information boxes, supporting device installation, and featuring a clean and aesthetically pleasing design. New outdoor optical APs have also been introduced, extending coverage from indoors to outdoors, meeting the needs of scenarios such as school playgrounds and hotel outdoor swimming pools. Operation has been upgraded from managing one campus with a single network management system to managing multiple campuses, easily supporting multi-tenant scenarios. Planning tools have been upgraded from manual planning to AI-generated automatic configuration, reducing network design time from two days to one hour.

For AI data center scenarios, we have innovatively proposed an all-optical lossless DCI (Data Center Interconnect) solution. Based on the DC-based OTN OSN9800 K12 platform, it achieves zero packet loss in cross-data center RDMA, error-free fault switching for long-distance fiber optic interruptions, and ensures efficient and stable operation of data centers, meeting the needs of scenarios such as storage and computing separation and training in cross-data center settings.

For protection scenarios in small, key locations such as substations, oil and gas plants, and data centers, a miniaturized perimeter protection solution with lower cost and simpler deployment has been launched, based on fiber optic, video perception fusion technology, and AI algorithms. The passive optical cable outdoor deployment not only provides long coverage distances without requiring power, but also resists electromagnetic interference and is unaffected by severe weather such as thunderstorms. It meets the high safety requirements of these locations for fire and lightning protection, while providing intelligent perimeter protection with strong anti-interference capabilities and high reporting accuracy.

In the future, Huawei will continue to focus on optical technology innovation, work with global customers and partners to accelerate the "three advances and three retreats" of connectivity and sensing, and win together in the era of intelligent industries.
